I’m a fruit lovahhh. Yes, it’s true. While I bake a ton and love all of my confectionary treats there’s something to be said for a fresh piece of fruit. I can’t tell you how much I spend on honey crisp apples when they’re in season (it’s a bit ridiculous) or that succulent pineapple that’s just begging to be cut into and eaten by yours truly. Bottom line- I’m a fruit fanatic.
Lately, we’ve been buying clementines ($6 for a small crate = steal… I’ll spend $6 on 3 apples!) and they’re disappearing as quickly as they’re coming in. The other night after dinner I was just about to eat my usual dessert, which consists of (go figure) a clementine when I thought, “How can I spice this up?” I looked in my pantry and what did my eyes land on? The chocolate chips. But hey, they’re semi-sweet so that’s semi-healthy, right?
So, I came up with a little concoction. Call it me wanting the salty-sweet yet semi-healthy treat. Clementines and sliced bananas dipped in semi-sweet chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. YUM! Fresh fruit + chocolate + sea salt = Healthiest Dessert Ever! And did I mention this took two seconds to make? Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but you get the picture. Make it, you’ll love it. Promise.
Chocolate Dipped Clementines & Bananas with Sea Salt
- 1 clementine
- 1 banana
- 3 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Coarse sea salt
- Peel and segment clementine and slice banana horizontally. Lay on wax paper.
- Melt chocolate chips in microwave.
- Dip half of clementine into chocolate. Do the same for the banana. Sprinkle with sea salt.
- Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes until cool.
